Everything changes for little Ru when her mother whisks her away to stay with her grandmother on the remote Isle of Skye, Scotland. Growing up she always heard tales of Selkies, the mythical creatures that resemble a seal in the water but assume human form on land. Little does she know, she’s about to meet one.
Sophia Carr-Gomm is a London based filmmaker. She received her undergraduate degree in acting at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Before graduating she landed a guest lead part in BBC's ‘Shetland' and since then, she has worked as an actor in film, television, stage and audio. Sophia's background in acting informs her work as a director. She has always had an eye on the bigger picture however, and has now caught the filmmaking bug! She wrote, directed and co-produced 'The Wider Sun' which is the first fictional film she has ever made. She is now focusing solely on filmmaking after this debut experience.
